Little Mourning, the debut album by electro-pop duo Milk & Bone, is now available in Canadian stores and online (bandcamp / iTunes) via Bonsound. The critics are unanimous: the album is a must!
every piece of this collection is as solid as the next […] strong debut with nary a fault in sight. 9/10
Scott Simpson, Exclaim!
hypnotic and engrossing yet also meditative
Ben Yung, The Revue
Their voices glide in unison the same way a lot of great harmonizing families have done before. The foreboding Celestine sonic universe recalls Woodkid minus the bombast, the organic digitized into icy cool fragments.
Erik Leijon, CultMTL
Myriam Daguzan Bernier, BRBR
Milk & Bone, c’est du bonbon, c’est un pur délice. C'est [Little Mourning] un incontournable. 9/10
Mathieu Paquet-Chabot, ecoutedonc.ca
huit pièces qui sont tout à fait sensuelles, tout à fait accrocheuses saupoudrées d’une bonne couche d’émotion à fleur de peau. On en veut plus! 8/10

Dead Obies, brilliant defenders of post-rap, are bringing the Montréal $ud saga to another level with their new cartoon series 4:20 with Dead Obies. Following the publication of their eponymous book, which dissects the album’s music and lyrics, the band now veers towards self-mockery, offering fans a trippy behind-the-scenes window into the boys’ lives. Written by Martin C. Pariseau and animated by Vincent Bilodeau, each episode will star a member of the troop. One of the six episodes will be released each Monday, starting today. Watch Episode 1: Le meeting now at 420.deadobies.com.

Charming audiences everywhere for over two years with their orchestral indie pop songs, Groenland will take on Europe once again this spring. The band, led by Sabrina Halde and Jean-Vivier Lévesque, has many shows scheduled in Germany and will also perform in Paris, at The Great Escape festival in Brighton, UK, as well as at the London Calling festival in Amsterdam, NL.
Needless to say, these days the sextet is drawing attention from everyone: Apple has chosen their song Our Hearts Like Gold for an iPad ad narrated by none other than Martin Scorsese. The spot was first broadcast during the Academy Awards last Sunday. Represented by the music licensing and publishing company Third Side Music, the band’s music has also been placed in TV shows The Good Wife (CBS) and Les beaux malaises (TVA), as well as a Canadian iPhone/Bell ad.

While we wait for spring to come, Ponctuation now releases Poésie automatique, a red-hot slacker-punk single that recalls 27 Club’s feel-good vibe and marks a shift towards a more psychedelic sonic universe.
Ponctuation will be performing on February 14th at Scanner in Quebec City. More dates, and further details about the album, will be announced in upcoming weeks.
Rich Aucoin has long been recognized for ambitious records and the video elements that accompany his music. Announced this week, his video for Yelling in Sleep is again shortlisted for the Prism Prize. The video for Brian Wilson is A.L.I.V.E. won the inaugural Prism Prize in 2013. The Yelling in Sleep video has also won Best Music Video at Animation Block Party 2014 in Brooklyn and was recently nominated for an East Coast Music Award for Fans’ Choice Video Of The Year, just one of six nominations for Rich Aucoin at this year’s ECMAs. Which is all to say that the debut of Ephemeral Prince, a sync between Aucoin’s critically acclaimed album Ephemeral and the visuals of Will Vinton based on Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s brilliant novella The Little Prince is nothing short of spectacular. Think of it as Aucoin’s take on the Darkside of The Rainbow.
The Halifax-born artist is preparing for the Ephemeral Prince Tour, starting on the Canadian east coast in February before heading to France and Belgium in March. Tour dates include a stop at Montréal en Lumière at Metropolis on February 28th, as part of the Nuit Blanche.

Lisa LeBlanc releases a music video for You Look Like Trouble (But I Guess I Do Too). The video is for the first single off her Highways, Heartaches and Time Well Wasted EP which was released in fall 2014 via Bonsound. Gritty and purposeful, the video was directed by Didier Charette. What looks to be the first scenes of a ragged ultimate fighting story takes a sharp twist into the high stakes world of underground chess. The intense video is shot with glimpses of Lisa and her band's electric live performance throughout.
During her 2014 fall cross-Canada tour, Lisa performed sold-out shows in Ottawa, Toronto and Hamilton, and charmed everyone she met all the way to Vancouver. She will return to Ontario for a few encore performances in Ottawa (April 1st), Kingston (April 2nd) and Guelph (April 3rd).
