Today, Pierre Kwenders releases a new music video for Sorry via OkayAfrica. The song is off his debut album Le Dernier Empereur Bantou, released last fall via Bonsound.
This lyric video draws a parallel between the beginning of his musical career and those of legends such as Tabu ley Rochereau, Franco Luambo Makiadi, TP OK Jazz and Sam Mangwana. Footage of these Congolese rumba pioneers were archived by simply filming a television screen. Pierre made sure to be a part of the whole creative process and teamed up with NOMAD to create this homage to the artists whose art greatly impacted African music.
He will be part of this year’s incredible Osheaga line-up on August 1st and will head to Europe in the fall. He is also working on a few shows in the United States.

After a stellar performance opening for METZ and The Black Lips at the Festival d’été de Québec, Ponctuation unveils their music video for La réalité me suffit. The song is off their latest album La réalité nous suffit, released this past April.
Co-written by Maxime Chiasson (Ponctuation’s drummer) and directed by Thomas B. Martin (who also designed the album cover), the video brings us into a cartoon universe in which a man, devastated by the death of a loved one, decides to undergo a drastic physical change.
You can still catch the band, headlining at Le Cercle tonight at 10pm, at the ongoing Festival d’été de Québec. Ponctuation will also be performing in Gatineau on July 18th, in Val-d’Or on July 23th within the FRIMAT, and in Béthanie on August 8th at the second edition of La Grosse Lanterne, before hoping over the Atlantic for a European tour.

an eclectic mix of songs that ranges from gloomy shoegaze to dancefloor-ready pop.
Sarah Murphy, Exclaim.ca
Cold Coast has created the comforting chill of its title: inviting, simplistically powerful and filled with longing as we retreat into winter.

Ottawa-born Myriam Gendron released her debut album, Not So Deep as a Well, in March 2014 on two american labels: Feeding Tube Records (Northampton, Massachusetts), in a limited vinyl edition, and Mama Bird Recording Co. (Portland, Oregon), in a digital edition. The nine-track album of love and hate, all at once brutal, mischievous, humorous and blue, was recorded and mixed in her bedroom.
We are very happy to welcome Myriam to our booking roster!
Montreal duo Secret Sun is very excited to share their new music video for Passing Cars. Directed by Hervé Baillargeon, the black and white video was shot in a wave pool in Saint-Sauveur (QC) and also features a miniature fire tornado. Baillargeon was inspired by the beat of the song, which reminded him of the mechanism behind the waves of a wave pool. The result is both epic and sensitive, which accurately reflects the band's music.
Passing Cars opens Secret Sun's debut album, Cold Coast, due September 30th via Bonsound. The song captures the disorientation and nostalgia that can creep into a long-time couple's standstill life. Produced by Sébastien Blais-Montpetit (Radio Radio's Belmundo Regal) and François Lafontaine (Karkwa), the album creates a universe of its own in which melancholy meets sensuality. It is the perfect life soundtrack as we bid adieu to hot summer days.
Cold Coast is available for pre-order on bandcamp and iTunes.

Le Dernier Empereur Bantou was recorded over two years in Washington D.C, Nova Scotia and Montreal, and includes collaborations with Jacobus (Radio Radio), Baloji and The Posterz. Nom de Plume and Poirier also participated in the making of this eagerly awaited full-length debut album.
