Only a couple of months after the release of Fog Area, Kill The Lights’ impressive second album, the band is back with Pink Dog, a digitally formatted five-track EP set to be released on June 8th 2010, on Bonsound Records and available on killthelights.bandcamp.com.
(Please note that the bandcamp page will only be active starting on the day of the release.)

Pink Dog is five previously unreleased gems recorded in between the Fog Area and Buffalo of Love sessions. Imbued with the same contemplative and profoundly atmospheric vibe as Fog Area, the songs on Pink Dog are proof of an intense width of scope. From Paint Your Eyes, Susan, a lovely acoustic guitar-based track in the mold of Fog Area’s Je Suis Perdu, to the richly layered LLLEGGS, Kill The Lights once again surprises us with a sound that is dark, dense, and uplifting.

Be sure not to miss the Pink Dog EP launch, June 10th at Il Motore!

    ABOUT KILL THE LIGHTS
The release of Buffalo of Love in 2007, garnered the band a slew of accolades and saw them tour with the likes of K-OS and You Say Party! We Say Die! Having survived the vagaries of the road – which included moose through windshields, stolen cars, and strandings in remote areas - Kill The Lights sought elusive visions of control and decided to move back home to Montreal. In sessions between April 2008 and May 2009, they recorded their second album at Breakglass Studios with Jace Lasek. Rich in sonic textures, Fog Area is a hybrid and highly original mix of psychedelic rock, ambient pop and electro-meditation. Gaining rave reviews after its independent release in September 2009, the band is currently travelling across the country to present their latest EP.

    Crew

Alex hackett : lead singer, guitar, keyboard
    Yann Geoffroy : drums, keyboard
    Joseph yarmush : guitar, keyboard
    Giancarlo rivera : bass

Pourtant le band n'a pas encore vraiment percé. Avec l'excellente galette d'indé-rock qu'il lance cette semaine, c'est tout le bien qu'on leur souhaite.
    Voir, Marie-Hélène Poitras, 27 août 2009

Bold and upbeat despite its broken heart, this is a great accomplishment. Disc of the week, 8.5/10
Mirror, Laurraine Carpenter, August 29th 2009

it lets itself go at all the right points. "Prince Pang," "Your Science," "Crooked Fist" and "Witch's Easter Egg" all vary in tempo, type and sensation but they are beautiful works of art.
    Exclaim!, Jessica Lewis, November 2009

Every track on Fog Area is put together extremely well, and shows that the band knows how to create a a fuzzy, spaced out ambiance while at the same time making songs that don't get lost in a boring haze. It makes for a wonderful listen.
    iheartmusic.net, April 8th 2010

Far more experimental than most of their peers, Kill The Lights excel at long shoegaze walks as well as short electro-pop dance numbers.
    Spin Magazine

..Kill The Lights is burning brightly.
    Inside Entertainment

Singer/Guitarist Alex Hackett makes a whole lot of beautiful noise on his axe, while the rhythm section keeps up with sweaty energy and creative playing.
    Now Magazine

Intelligent songwriting, powerful melodies and that perfect balance between indie rock and mainstream rock…they have given us an album filled with sonic beauty and anthemic moments.
    Tripwire

It is extremely melodic, the coolest vocal on brilliant lines. The song-titles resemble short stories, and this whole album is an uplifting experience throughout.
