Champion celebrates the 20th anniversary of Chill 'Em All with a first-ever vinyl edition and a show at the MTELUS

To mark the 20th anniversary of this iconic world-renowned album, Champion is releasing the first vinyl pressing of Chill 'Em All, which will be out on April 20th as part of Record Store Day Canada. Accompanied by his G-Strings, he will also make his live comeback on November 15th, 2024 with a concert at Montreal’s MTELUS that promises to be as festive as can be.

Two decades ago, Champion (Maxime Morin) became one of the first Quebec-based electronic music artists to achieve widespread success. He quickly made a name for himself outside the province with the 2004 release of his debut album Chill ‘Em All, skilfully blending electronic rhythms and electric guitars to forge a musical identity that would take him all over the world. His success was recognized at the 2005 ADISQ Gala and the 2006 JUNO Awards, where Chill 'Em All won the Félix for Album of the Year - Electronic Music and a nomination in the Best Dance Recording category, respectively. Since its release, the album has garnered over 10 million streams on music services and sold over 85,000 units in Canada.

The hard-hitting single No Heaven was a particularly huge hit, appearing on the soundtracks of two popular video games of the time, Borderlands and Army of Two. Its impact is still felt today: No Heaven reached number one on the ADISQ’s Anglophone Song Sales Chart in November 2022 following a televised performance by the artist.

Champion's success is not limited to his albums; his live shows are just as popular as they are critically acclaimed. Accompanied on stage by four guitarists, a bassist and a singer, Maxime acts as the conductor behind his computer, giving rise to energetic sets during which his tracks increase in power. On the Chill 'Em All tour, he played seven sold-out shows at the MTELUS, a real feat for an artist with only one album to his name. This success earned him the Félix for Show of the Year at the ADISQ Gala in 2006. Champion is back with his much-loved line-up, ready to set fire to the venue that propelled his concerts into the pantheon of the most memorable of his generation.

Bonsound
