After three years of relentless worldwide touring (cross-Canadian shows, European festivals, even a beach party in Madagascar – he’s done it and you were there up front), Rich Aucoin returns with his second album, Ephemeral. With this album, the ever-ruminating philosopher distills all his big ideas into 10 sharp dance-pop songs, creating one central message. We must gather all things that cause fear and division, and use them to bring us together.
Ephemeral will be released in Canada on September 9th via Bonsound. Watch the album trailer, and stream the new single Want To Believe, as well as the previously released Are You Experiencing?.
In times like this/I wanna be a believer!, Aucoin shouts on the driving, dynamic Want to Believe, an exuberant anthem mixed by Grammy Award winner Mick Guzauski (Daft Punk). It’s not surprising that he means all times. I want to believe, he says, and am on a quest to try to have as many experiences as I can to elicit belief.

Montreal band Secret Sun, formed by Anne-Marie Campbell and Simon Landry, shares their first music video for Feather, a new song from their upcoming album Cold Coast, set to be released on September 30th via Bonsound.
Directed by Miami-based visual artists Michael-John Hancock and Jonathan David Kane, the video was filmed at the historic Shadow Point, the heavenly estate located in Key Largo, Florida. The sunny shots pay homage to the soap operas of days gone by, as well as the novel Play It As It Lays by Joan Didion. A tribute to the therapeutic power of music, Feather’s lyrics were inspired by this 1970 book about a retired actress struggling with her own disillusionment. Hopefully, the song will give you a splash of relief from the summer heat!
Until the release of Cold Coast, you can download the irresistible title track, according to Émilie Côté (La Presse), via secretsun.bandcamp.com. The band will be opening for Kopecky Family Band at Quai des Brumes, in Montreal, on August 8th.
Monogrenade is very pleased to announce the release of their sophomore effort, Composite, on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean on September 1st, 2014 via French label Atmosphériques. Released in Canada in February via Bonsound, Composite utilizes vintage synthesizers that coast through planetary atmospheres (Exclaim), and lyrically explores our human essence.
To add to this great news, Exclaim.ca premiered the video for Métropolis, directed by Christophe Collette, the man behind the much talked-about stop-motion video for Ce soir. A complex beat-driven song, Métropolis' lyrics are inspired by the 1927 German expressionist sci-fi film of the same name, which relates to the story of a man living in a futuristic, overpopulated, divided and polluted city.
The band will be playing at Gesù this Friday, June 13th, as part of the FrancoFolies de Montréal, where they will present their new show for the first time in Montreal since the release of Composite. On the menu: celestial lighting and projections, Pietro Amato on French Horn and Safia Nolin's participation on one song. Monogrenade will also play in Sherbrooke on July 10th, Quebec City on July 11th and L'Assomption on August 7th.
