Secret Sun (formed by Anne-Marie Campbell and Simon Landry) takes advantage of these last summer weeks to present a new song from their upcoming debut album, Cold Coast, to be released on September 30th via Bonsound. Album opener Passing Cars captures the disorientation and nostalgia that can creep into a long-time couple's standstill life.
Stream Passing Cars here, and pre-order the album on bandcamp to immediately get two tracks. The album will also be available for pre-order on iTunes, starting this Thursday.
Both rich and ethereal, Cold Coast was produced by Sébastien Blais-Montpetit (Radio Radio) and François Lafontaine (Karkwa), with whom the band sought to create a unique, vibrant mood. The result is ten melodious and interconnected songs; pop music that is comforting but not predictable.
Accompanied on stage by two musicians, the Montreal duo will first present their new collection of songs on August 30th in Rouyn-Noranda, as part of the Emerging Music Festival. The Montreal launch show will take place on September 30th at Le Belmont.

The charismatic Montreal-based, Congolese-born Pierre Kwenders shares a video today for his song Irène from his debut album out October 14th via Bonsound. The album is titled Le Dernier Empereur Bantou (The Last Bantu Emperor), and the artist has already been chosen as Révélation Radio-Canada 2014-2015 for world music. More details will follow over the next few weeks.
The song Irène is a reference to the 2011 hurricane of the same name. The lyrics draw parallels between the hurricane's devastation and the effect a woman can have in a man's life. Director Matthew Oppenheimer depicts people from all walks of life meeting at twilight in the forest. The video celebrates mysticism and tribalism as hope rises under a fiery sunset.
Following the release of the Are You Experiencing? video and the single Want To Believe, Rich Aucoin is sharing the video for Yelling In Sleep. Premiering this morning via Noisey/Vice and Much.ca, the animated video was directed by Canadian Joel MacKenzie and was recently awarded Best Music Video at Animation Block Party 2014, in Brooklyn. This song is about the failures in all types of our relationships, explains Rich. "Yelling in our sleep" is a phrase to elicit the frustration we have when we lose these relationships and the nightmare that haunts us afterwards.
Yelling In Sleep, Want To Believe and Are You Experiencing? are from Rich’s sophomore effort, Ephemeral, due in Canada on September 9th via Bonsound. Pre-order the album now via bandcamp or iTunes, and immediately get two tracks. Ephemeral will also be available in the USA on September 9th via Young Enthusiastic Americans and in France on October 14th via Platinum Records.
