Jazz band Misc announces the release of their self-titled album

This spring, jazz band Misc (formerly known as Trio Jérôme Beaulieu, and named Radio-Canada’s Breakthrough Jazz artist for 2013-2014) will release their self-titled album on March 18th, 2016 via Bonsound. Don’t miss their launch show at the Sala Rossa on March 22nd, 2016. Misc is available for pre-order via Bandcamp and iTunes. Listen and share the album sampler.

Misc holds a place in the Jazz scene because of the vital role that improvisation occupies in their music. However, this does not stop them from drawing on influences from pop and rock genres. This clearly mark a step towards a new generation of jazz musicians for whom catchy, strong melodies and rhythms expand musical boundaries while rooting the music in the present. Therefore this album, much like the live performances of Misc, strives to create an energetic and active dialogue between the listener and the music.

Yann Perreau unveils J'aime les oiseaux from his upcoming album

Bonsound is thrilled to announce that Yann Perreau has signed to to our booking and management rosters.

In his 40th birthday, Perreau will launch his 5th album of original songs. With this project, Yann is in full command of his songwriting, and his music is more infectious and hypnotic than ever. His new single, J'aime les oiseaux, unveils the musical textures of his upcoming album and tour. The lyrics weave together madness, derision, immediacy and lightness, and layer over feisty and contagious organic-electro music.

Head in the clouds, both feet on the ground, Yann Perreau will release his next sonic experience, Le fantastique des astres, next April via Bonsound.

Radio Radio shares a music video for My Dance Floor

A few weeks after releasing the single Tonight’s the Night, Radio Radio unveils the music video for My Dance Floor. The song is off their new album (entirely in English) Light the Sky, to be released on February 19th via Bonsound. Pre-order it now on iTunes and Bandcamp (Vinyl/CD/digital).

Watch and share the music video for My Dance Floor via YouTube.

A dance routine was designed specifically for this video, directed by Jean-François Sauvé. What impressed me the most with Radio Radio is their ability to always push the boundaries and reinvent themselves, explains Sauvé. Not to mention that they’re tall, stylish guys, and they dance pretty well too. They have everything.

The official launch show will take place at Club Soda on Monday, February 22nd as part of the Montreal High Lights Festival. (Tickets)

Lisa LeBlanc unveils the video for her ferociously upbeat track “Gold Diggin’ Hoedown”

Lisa LeBlanc unveils the video for her ferociously upbeat track Gold Diggin’ Hoedown off her mini-album Highways, Heartaches and Time Well-Wasted (released via Bonsound).

Director Didier Charette wanted to showcase western communities outside of America. The video was filmed over 10 days in Tokyo, Japan, the perfect fast-paced city for this fast-paced song.

The video was mostly filmed guerilla style, says the director:

It was really interesting to shoot with Sanae because we couldn't really talk, she didn't speak English and I don't speak Japanese. So I had my little book, with basic Japanese stuff I had written down to tell her what I wanted to film. People would give us looks as a Japanese cowgirl was walking with three male foreigners.
