Milk & Bone releases new single Poison

Nominated at this year’s JUNO Awards for Breakthrough Group of the Year, Milk & Bone now unveils Poison via Noisey, a song they’ve been performing live during recent shows.

Produced by Deebs (Toronto) and mixed by Gabriel Gagnon (Montreal), Poison explores a lethal love story. The lyrics describe the inability to shut out thoughts of someone, and loving every second of it despite being in excruciating pain. The song is about knowing you’ve been abandoned and not being ready to let go.

After their show in Toronto on March 5th at Lee’s Palace, Milk & Bone will hit the road for their first ever US tour, which kicks off at SXSW on March 15th. In May, they’ll head on their first European tour.

The band’s new album once again travels across unique, but familiar, worlds. Songs like Busy and Happy Hustler reference life in the fast lane, while Sweater Weather delves into relationship complexities and Remodel (Mike Holmes) mockingly pays homage to home renovations, a common reality for some in their mid-thirties. The energy is palpable in this joyful album full of rhythms and hip-hop/electro melodies created by Shash’U (Fool’s Gold Records), DJ Champion, J.u.D. and Alex McMahon (who also produced the album).

Jazz band Misc announces the release of their self-titled album

This spring, jazz band Misc (formerly known as Trio Jérôme Beaulieu, and named Radio-Canada’s Breakthrough Jazz artist for 2013-2014) will release their self-titled album on March 18th, 2016 via Bonsound. Don’t miss their launch show at the Sala Rossa on March 22nd, 2016. Misc is available for pre-order via Bandcamp and iTunes. Listen and share the album sampler.

Misc holds a place in the Jazz scene because of the vital role that improvisation occupies in their music. However, this does not stop them from drawing on influences from pop and rock genres. This clearly mark a step towards a new generation of jazz musicians for whom catchy, strong melodies and rhythms expand musical boundaries while rooting the music in the present. Therefore this album, much like the live performances of Misc, strives to create an energetic and active dialogue between the listener and the music.

Head in the clouds, both feet on the ground, Yann Perreau will release his next sonic experience, Le fantastique des astres, next April via Bonsound.

A dance routine was designed specifically for this video, directed by Jean-François Sauvé.
