Montréal $ud, the ambitious first album from the montréalais-by-rive-sud collective, chronicle the proverbial stations of the cross by six young Jesus figures as they travel from the suburbs (Montréal-Sud, Longueuil's original name) to the big city. Each song is packed with locational and generational aspirations and anxieties. The album was recorded over three intense sessions during spring and summer 2013.
All 17 songs are lyrically composed of joual, slang and Creole patois, which reflect the linguistic and cultural baggage of Montreal's youth. Five sweeping, strong and cutting voices soar over dense, propulsive music and beats produced by VNCE (a Québec sampling artist), blurring the lines between hip hop, synthwave, soul and electro. A massive creative leap from their mixtape, Montréal $ud is an imposing post album, produced by Dead Obies. - See more at: http://www.bonsound.com/en/artist/dead-obies/#sthash.sqLNfeDw.dpuf
