Indus is a band that blends ancestral Colombian sounds with analog electronics. The Bogotá-based duo, led by Caribbean coast-born producer Oscar Alford, has released two albums (2020–2024), three singles (2020–2021) independently, and two EPs (2020–2022) under the Afro-Colombian label Palenque Records.
Indus live is an energetic burst of analog acid synthesizers and Afro percussion — an invitation to dance and travel through reinterpretations of ancient Colombian sounds.
The band has toured internationally on multiple occasions (Canada 2023–2024, Europe 2024–2025), with standout performances at MUTEK (Montreal, 2023), Nuits Sonores (Lyon, 2024), Fusion Festival (Berlin, 2024), OZORA Festival (Budapest, 2025), and Virada Cultural (São Paulo, Brazil, 2025). Indus has also participated in some of Colombia's most important music events, such as Festival Colombia al Parque (Bogotá), Festival Centro (Bogotá), and Festival Tambor Galáctico (Santa Marta).

Alongside Oscar is percussionist Andrés Mercado, who has developed a unique performance style by using West African drums to play Afro-Colombian rhythms.

The band’s discography explores the reinterpretation of traditional Colombian music through contemporary studio production techniques — using electronics and synthesizers to bring ancestral sounds into a club context. Their work includes collaborations with some of Colombia’s most renowned traditional musicians, such as gaitero El León Pardo on the track “Gaitas del León” (nominated for Best Colombian Video in 2020), traditional llanero singer Hermes Romero on “Noche Oscura”, and iconic bands from San Basilio de Palenque — including Las Alegres Ambulancias, Sexteto Tabalá, and Son Palenque — featured in their remix EPs. The band is set to release its second album in 2024 under the ZZK Records label.
Indus has crafted a sound that reimagines Afro-Colombian rhythms within a nocturnal and acid-tinged atmosphere. Their live performance is a powerful fusion of acid analog synthesizers and Afro percussion — an invitation to dance and journey through the reinterpretation of Colombia’s ancestral sounds.
The band has performed at some of Colombia’s most important music festivals, including Festival Colombia al Parque (Bogotá), Festival Centro (Bogotá), Festival Jaguar (Palomino), the ZZK Records Showcase (Bogotá), and Festival Tambor Galáctico, curated by Bomba Estéreo’s lead singer, Liliana Saumet. In 2023, Indus toured Canada, with notable shows at MUTEK Montréal, Bloom Festival in Toronto, and various other venues.
Their music has been recognized with multiple awards from the Colombian government and has received international press coverage from outlets such as Sounds and Colors (UK), South Plug (Chile), Gladys Palmera (Spain), Marvin Magazine (Mexico), Filter (Mexico), Shock Magazine (Colombia), and Radiónica (Colombia).
