Through pedal steel licks, knee-buckling melodies, and lyrics imbued with genuine, unvarnished poetry, Montreal-based Spaghatt has carved out a place for itself on Quebec’s country music scene. Led by Émile Touzin (acoustic guitar, vocals), the band performs as a seven-piece ensemble featuring Patrick Bourdon (guitar, banjo, backing vocals), Xavier Paquette (bass), Olivier Tanguay (drums), Guillaume Scott (pedal steel), Mélisande Archambault (fiddle), and Melyssa Lemieux (backing vocals, percussion).
Both in its arrangements and subject matter, Spaghatt’s music honours the traditions of country Americana while steering clear of the genre’s more obvious clichés. On stage, the band serves up songs of love, life on the road, and cash-fuelled adventures, set to infectious melodies and delivered with an energy that at times gets audiences dancing and, at others, invites them to slow down and absorb the stories carried in the lyrics.
First brought together by their love of country music and a shared taste for a good party, Émile Touzin and Patrick Bourdon formed Spaghatt in 2021 with one simple goal: to make music together, just like they used to. What began as Friday night jam sessions—initially just another good excuse to drink beer—quickly evolved into something more serious. It was within the walls of Montreal's iconic Quai des Brumes that the crowd's immediate enthusiasm cemented Spaghatt's commitment to their audience: never to leave anyone indifferent.

Influences such as Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, and Stephen Faulkner are easy to hear throughout their work. In 2026, Spaghatt shifts into second gear with the release of its debut EP, Perte totale ("Total Loss"), and its participation in the 30th edition of the Francouvertes music competition.
