YUYU's music could be described as Neo hip-hop or even alternative rap. Hip-Hop with aromas from the roots of reggae, neo-soul and even Trap. The 24-year-old artist from Ste-Émélie-de-L’énergie approaches rap with the vision of a songwriter. One of his missions is to combine the raw, instinctive flow and authenticity of rap, with the more thoughtful side associated with songwriting. As a school trained guitarist, he loves to use a variety of organic instruments in hip-hop productions. He surrounds himself with professional musicians both in the studio and for live performances. YUYU was part of the 2022 edition of the prestigious Les Francouvertes competition. Many of his songs are broadcasted on Radio-Canada's music section. One of His last single Les épinettes was named sound of the week on the program Nouveau sons by Nicolas Ouellet on national radio. His new EP Dauphin went live on all platforms on January 27th, 2023. It features productions from Figure8, the producer duo Or bleu (Gab Fruits, Charles Cozy), and verses from the rappers Rex and rapper Jamaz from Laf.
