Folk singer-songwriter Philippe B unveils La jeunesse est un autre pays, the first single from Cigale, his seventh album to be released on March 13th. This stripped-down piano ballad offers a moving reflection on our perception of age, providing a glimpse of the themes addressed on the album. This announcement comes two months after the release of smash hit TV series Heated Rivalry’s first two episodes, the second of which features an excerpt of Chelsea mon amour, a song from Philippe B’s second album (Taxidermie, 2008).
On La jeunesse est un autre pays, Philippe B accurately highlights the boundaries that divide us into generations, as well as the ways our perspectives and worldview change as we grow older. He delivers his observations on a melody reminiscent of the golden age of French chanson, dressed in revealing poetry that leaves no word to chance.
The release of Cigale will be followed by a spring tour which will include three launch shows at La Sala Rossa in Montreal on May 14th, 15th, and 16th. Tickets are available now, see the list below for all details.
