P’tit Belliveau presents RRSP/Grosse pièce, a two-part epic off his upcoming album Un homme et son piano.

On the brink of releasing his sophomore album, P’tit Belliveau now unveils RRSP/Grosse pièce, a new track that takes the shape of an ingenious two-part epic. This is the fourth single off the highly anticipated Un homme et son piano, to be released this Friday, April 1st, via Bonsound.

Adapted from a folk song by Michael Saulnier, an Acadian singer-songwriter and a very good friend of P'tit Belliveau, RRSP/Grosse pièce embodies the anxiety and alienating routine of the average working class individual, who must sacrifice a portion of their life to contribute to their Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP). The single takes an unexpected turn halfway through, as the country-folk lament veers into a lively celebration carried by dance-pop sounds, highlighting Jonah Guimond's (aka P'tit Belliveau) versatility as a songwriter.

The song is accompanied with a music video directed by Vincent Bilodeau, who also directed J'feel comme un alien released last February. To conceive this new video, the director used high-caliber technology tools, such as Occulus Quest's SculptrVR application, to create this 100% digital creation resembling clay stop-motion. Integrating surreal and magical elements into a mundane rural universe defined by routine and work habits, the result is once again as surprising and unique as P'tit Belliveau's music. For my fourth collaboration with Jonah, I wanted to enforce our constant desire to present an original aesthetic, just like his music, but above all I wanted to push the team's technical skills even further, explains the director.

P'tit Belliveau continues his momentum into 2022 with over 30 upcoming shows. The tour includes a sold out show at Club Soda in Montreal on April 30th and an additional date on June 17th as part of the Francos de Montréal. Check out the list below or visit ptitbelliveau.com for all his show dates.
