Lisa LeBlanc unveils a live version of You Look Like Trouble (But I Guess I Do Too) two days before the release of her new album

After releasing a live version of her hit Aujourd'hui, ma vie c'est d'la marde in September, Lisa LeBlanc now returns with a live version of You Look Like Trouble (But I Guess I Do Too), one of the most powerful songs in her repertoire. Recorded at the Grand Théâtre de Québec with her band, the 63 musicians of the OSQ, and conductor Jean-Michel Malouf, this is the second single off Live avec l'Orchestre symphonique de Québec, the Acadian artist’s new live album due out this Friday, October 11th, via Bonsound.

With an expansive intro that emphasizes the composition’s epicness, this new version breaks down stereotypes associated with the banjo, proving to skeptics that the instrument is meant for more than just traditional music. By blending her banjo with a classical orchestra, Lisa pushes both her own limits and those of her beloved instrument, immortalizing the duality that sets her apart as an artist.

Live avec l'Orchestre symphonique de Québec combines the simplicity of Lisa's lyrics with her taste for extravagance. The result is as delightful as it is surprising. Born out of a desire to further explore the composition of her album Chiac Disco (2022), this collaboration with the OSQ turned out to be the perfect opportunity for Lisa to reimagine her repertoire in a glorious, yet accessible way.

This unique and enriching encounter between Lisa LeBlanc and the Orchestre symphonique de Québec was worthy of being captured in something that could last forever. This recording is a reflection of the happiness felt during the concerts by artists and audience alike. - Joël Brouillette, OSQ Director of Artistic Administration.

Featuring songs in both French and English, the album's impressive arrangements evoke a range of emotions. Aujourd'hui, ma vie c'est d'la marde is embellished with a harpsichord, and Québec comedy icon François Pérusse makes a guest appearance on Gossip II. Her most sentimental songs like Kraft Dinner and Me semble que c'est facile become even more poignant in this format.

On this album, Lisa LeBlanc also pays tribute to those who mixed pop and orchestral music before her, such as Dusty Springfield, Bobbie Gentry and Lee Hazlewood. The arrangements of Highways, Heartaches and Time Well Wasted and City Slickers and Country Boys recall the spaghetti western sounds of Ennio Morricone, though the many nods to the heyday of disco remain an essential part of the album.
