Singer-songwriter Shaina Hayes is back with Flourish, a gentle folk-pop meditation on love, growth and the beauty of becoming who you are meant to be. Marking the first glimpse of her upcoming third studio album, this single arrives less than a month before a short European tour supporting The Barr Brothers, which will take her to Paris, London, Manchester, Glasgow and Leeds.
Built around breathy vocals and mellow acoustic guitar, Flourish unfolds like a slow spring morning. Warm pedal steel textures and delicate rhythms bloom beneath Hayes' voice as the song paints a soft-focus portrait of affection and desire, leaving listeners punch drunk on pollen and sunshine. Produced alongside her longtime collaborators Francis Ledoux (drums) and David Marchand (guitar, bass, pedal steel and vocals), the track embraces the warmth of alt-country while maintaining the quiet intimacy that has become a hallmark of Hayes’ songwriting.
The idea for the song was inspired by Irish poet John O’Donohue’s book Anam Cara: A Book of Celtic Wisdom, in which the concept of “flourishing” is described as becoming the fullest, most radiant version of oneself. Inspired by the beauty of the word, Hayes transformed it into a springtime love song that celebrates wishing the very best for the people we hold close.
