Population II unveils the single Magouilleux and announces a new EP

After releasing their third album, Maintenant Jamais, and touring extensively (in Europe, the United States, Canada, and Mexico) in 2025, Population II now tones down just a bit with Magouilleux, the first single from Gimmicks, a new synthedelic rock EP due out April 3rd via Bonsound. As of April 24th, Gimmicks will be available on vinyl, with the EP Serpent Échelle, previously only available on cassette and digitally, on the B-side.

Magouilleux unfolds with dreamlike synths and keyboards, gradually blending with Pierre-Luc Gratton's husky voice, pulsating drums, and the rumble of a bass synthesizer. Drifting at times into a darker, somewhat unsettling soundscape, the three-piece band never loses control and delivers a powerful lesson in balance, proving that they are equally skilled at restraint and intensity.
