Luan Larobina signs with Bonsound, releases new song Voz de mi vida

Latin-Gaspesian folk artist Luan Larobina is officially announcing her signature to Montreal label Bonsound with the release of Voz de mi vida, a festive, uplifting song that blends the irresistible rhythm of cumbia with the intimacy of indie folk. This is her first single since the April 2025 release of CASA, her previous EP.

Voz de mi vida is a sort of tribute to Luan Larobina’s father, to whom the singer-songwriter expresses her gratitude for passing on to her the power of music. A musician himself, he used it to build a connection with his new community upon his arrival from Mexico, just as Luan uses it today to share her inner world with us. When my father arrived in Gaspésie, he didn’t speak French, Luan explains. From a very young age, I realized that he used music to connect with others, and that’s something that has stayed with me my whole life. I’ve experienced it myself; our shared love of music has allowed us to build a bridge between him and I, one that goes beyond words and transcends our differences.

Mixing Latin traditions with contemporary Québécois folk, Voz de mi vida is a perfect example of Luan Larobina’s use of music for strengthening her connection to her mixed identity. Produced, arranged and co-composed by Cédrik St-Onge (guitar, vocals), the song also features Cédric Dind-Lavoie (double bass), Vincent Carré (drums), her brother (Edaï Larobina, percussion), and her father (Juan Sebastian Larobina, ronroco).
