BEYRIES presents a video for Nous sommes, co-directed by Maxime Le Flaguais, also the song’s writer

During an online event on Friday hosted by France-based Quebecois journalist Nathalie Lesage (and presented by the Canadian Cultural Centre in Paris), BEYRIES unveiled the music video for her song Nous sommes. The video stars the Montreal-born singer-songwriter, and was created by French director Raphaëlle Chovin and Quebecois actor Maxime Le Flaguais. Just like the song’s lyrics (written by Le Flaguais), nature is at the heart of the video in which BEYRIES, dressed as a knight, travels across snow-covered fields and forests, between mountains and rivers.

In the video, we witness the solitary progression of someone who’s been tried and tested by many hardships, explains Raphaëlle Chovin. However, I wanted to highlight that, even in solitude, we are always linked to others and we never forget our roots, our story and our battles.

Nous sommes is included on BEYRIES’ sophomore effort Encounter, released in November via Bonsound, and was recently heard on the Radio-Canada TV series District 31. This is the only French track on the album, and marks BEYRIES’ third collaboration with Maxime Le Flaguais, who also wrote the lyrics for J’aurai cent ans and Au-delà des mots. BEYRIES composed Nous sommes’ music with Pierre-Philippe Côté, aka Pilou.

To learn more about the album, BEYRIES presents the Encounter Podcast, an in-depth conversation between her and journalist Olivier Robillard-Laveaux. As part of this 3-episode mini series, the singer-songwriter discusses her journey from the release of her debut album Landing, to the release of her most recent LP. The first two episodes are available now on BEYRIES’ YouTube channel (with English subtitles) and on all podcast-hosting platforms.

After selling over 2000 tickets for a virtual concert presented by Montreal’s Place des Arts in January, BEYRIES was recently able to head back out on the road in her home province of Quebec to present her new album in front of audiences. Accompanied by three musicians, she will play shows in Sherbrooke and Brossard over the next few weeks. Please see below for a complete list of her tour dates and visit beyriesmusic.com for more details.
