Les Deuxluxes present Lighter Fluid Live, a musical experience where performance, music video and film meet. With a glamorous atmosphere reminiscent of the golden age of televised musical performances and an Art Deco-inspired decor, the vibrant Anna Frances Meyer (vocals & tenor guitar) and Étienne Barry (vocals, guitar & drums) perform seven songs from their album Lighter Fluid, released in February 2020.

Lighter Fluid Live was born out of a desire to offer something special to the fans, after several postponements - and ultimately the cancellation - of Les Deuxluxes’ album launch show, originally scheduled for March 2020. Our goal was to capture on film the energy with which we would have delivered this album on stage, on tour and around the world, says the two-piece band. We wanted to reproduce the intensity and dynamism that we feel on stage when we perform for our fans. Les Deuxluxes teamed up with director Ariel Poupart (who has shot several of the band's videos) to capture the performance at the Plaza Theatre.

To conceive this 26-minute black-and-white film that makes up Lighter Fluid Live, the duo drew from a pool of references as diverse as they are grandiose. The aesthetics echo that of the silent films of the 1920s, using a heaven/hell duality accentuated by the use of chiaroscuro, as well as the aesthetics of Las Vegas music revues from the 1960s and 1970s. The production is enhanced by a contemporary touch coupled with a strong dose of rock’n’roll extravaganza.

The livestream’s soundscape has also been given a Deuxluxes twist, thanks to the analog mix of the audio tracks, reflecting the footage’s grittiness. The texture, depth and dynamism of the images are reminiscent of the melodic overlays and raw instrumentation of the songs that make up Lighter Fluid.
