Directed by Jeanne Sigwalt and Oscarito Castro of La Piscine Mon Amour, Salutations soignées, sentiments distingués is out today via YouTube. Filmed in the fall of 2021 while Les Louanges was in Europe, the short film is divided into different tableaux, each one associated with a different song from Crash, the young artist’s sophomore album, released last January via Bonsound.
Over the course of the nearly 16 minutes that make up the film, the camera follows Vincent Roberge (aka Les Louanges) on his Parisian adventures, before shifting to a recording studio in Brussels and a beautiful beach in Deauville, Normandy. Filmed with a Super 8 camera, the footage of Les Louanges’ journey unfolds to the sound of Crash ’s stand-out tracks, including Pigeons, Qu'est-ce que tu m'fais, Dernière, Cruze and Gaston.
Sometimes profound, sometimes delirious, Vincent Roberge's remarks blend with Sigwalt and Castro's candid and spontaneous direction, creating a brightly colored short film that moves us with its sincerity. The film captures his state of mind, just a few weeks away from the release of his highly anticipated second album.
This summer, Les Louanges will perform at several festivals, including Osheaga, the Festif de Baie-Saint-Paul, the Francofolies de La Rochelle in France and the Festival de Dour in Belgium. The tour will carry on in the fall with dates all over Quebec, as well as in Ontario (Toronto and Ottawa) and in Europe (Paris, Lille and Brussels).
