Lisa LeBlanc is finally releasing Chiac Disco, the fourth record in her career! This new album marks her long awaited return to francophone music, 10 years after the release of her first album. Introduced to the world with groovy singles such as Pourquoi faire aujourd'hui, Entre moi et toi et la corde de bois, Me semble que c'est facile and Gossip, Chiac Disco brings forth the unlikely meeting of disco and chiac, with lively sounds that are sometimes sixties, sometimes seventies.
Recorded at her home, surrounded by her musicians, the album exudes the freedom, fun and joie de vivre present at the time of its creation. With its bursts of trumpets and trombones, eye-popping strings and soulful beats, the Acadian musician offers a danceable cultural patchwork that takes a critical look at modern society through lively, humorous and sincere lyrics. Inspired by James Brown, Chic, Lee Hazlewood and William Onyeabor, among others, this is a colorful and groovy record that comes as a spontaneous response to a dull year 2020, now behind us.
The year 2022 will be a busy one for Lisa LeBlanc, who will be participating in various festivals, including the Francos de Montréal, with a headlining concert at MTELUS on June 16.
