Magi Merlin releases the Gone Girl EP, her most daring project to date

Magi Merlin releases Gone Girl, her first EP via Bonsound. Alongside producer Funkywhat, Magi draws us into a biting, soulful and complex universe that is rooted in 90's house music, drum and bass, Motown and acid-flecked hip hop. Through this collection of energetic and funky tracks, the young artist reveals the many facets of her personality while sharing some confronting and profound observations. Gone Girl is an eclectic project that showcases the young singer’s inexhaustible audacity.

In her musical cauldron, the self-described “cheeky nihilist” combines jazzy scats with raps, and breakbeats to give us her take on generational angst, fake friends and casual racism. Whether it is to unleash years of bottled-up anger or to dazzle her fans with funkadelic dancefloor numbers, Magi Merlin holds on to the mic and presides queenlike over her ever-widening stage.

After taking Europe by storm with three showcases at The Great Escape Festival in Brighton, followed by several tour dates supporting Noga Erez in various cities, Magi will perform at La Noce in Chicoutimi, at the Montreal International Jazz Festival and at the Festival d’été de Québec.
